Post Season
Week of 10/09/2022
Four Wildcard Series were won by the lower seed and only one was 2-1.
Teams to score first are 16-7 . Teams to out-homer opponents are 11-5. 44.1% of runs have been scored via HR. There have been 146 pitches thrown this postseason at 100.0+ mph that's the 2nd-most in a single postseason under pitch tracking (2008), behind only 2016 (158) 2.1% of pitches have been 100.0+ mph, which would be the highest rate in that span, surpassing 1.5% in '16. Fifteen players currently have an OPS over 1.000 but only three are continuing to play (Harper, Alvarez and Gurriel).
Aaron Nola leads all pitchers with 2 victories and a 0.00 ERA with a .95 WHIP.
Yankees at Guardindians is the only undecided series with the later up 2-1.
My prediction is a Astros vs. Padres World Series with Dusty Baker getting his first ring as a manager.
Dodgers, Braves, & Mets combined for 313-173 in the regular season and 3-8 in the postseason.
Dodgers’ loss in the post season was the biggest gap in regular season versus their opponent since 1906.
This will be an interesting off season with Correa and Bogaerts already opting out, Aaron Judge headlining the free agent class and likely trades of super stars.
As a loyal Dodger fan, I am upset, frustrated and sad but not surprised. Under Dave Roberts since 2016, the good news is they have made the playoffs every year. The bad news is they have won the WS once (Kevin Cash made a Dave Roberts’ type tactical mistake), lost WS twice (Astros did cheat in 2017), lost the NLCS twice and NLDS twice with home field advantage in all but 1. They have 15 free agents include Justin Turner, Trea Turner, David Price, Clayton Kershaw, Joey Gallo, Tyler Anderson, Andrew Haney, Chris Martin, Danny Duffy, Hanser Alberto, Kevin Pilar, Jimmy Nelson, Craig Kimbrel, Tommy Kahnle and the biggest mistake Trevor Bauer. Tyler Anderson and Chris Martin are needed with Justin Turner and Clayton Kershaw as would be great. All reports are that Trea Turner wants to leave and will command too much for IMHO a liability on defense.
